  14. MEMORY PROBLEMS

  17. Because the games on this CD-ROM have three-dimensional graphics,
  18. they also take up a fair amount of memory.  If you should get an
  19. Out of Memory error, or a warning that there is not enough memory
  20. available to start the game, there are several things you can do:
  21.  
  22. 1.  Create a boot disk.  To create a boot disk, format a blank floppy
  23.     diskette with the /s option.  If your floppy is in drive a:, try
  24.     
  25.     format a: /s
  26.     
  27.     Then copy your autoexec.bat and config.sys files to the floppy.
  28.     If your boot drive is c:, it might look like this:
  29.     
  30.     copy c:\autoexec.bat a:\autoexec.bat
  31.     copy c:\config.sys a:\config.sys
  32.  
  33.     Once the files have been copied, edit the versions that are on
  34.     the floppy, and remove all unnecessary commands, drivers, etc.
  35.     Make sure to leave your CD-ROM drivers if you are going to try
  36.     using the Companion disc at the same time.
  37.  
  38. 2.  If you have DOS 6.0 or better, you might try using memmaker.
  39.     Memmaker is a great utility, but if you decide to use it, then
  40.     you should definately, Definately, DEFINATELY back-up your
  41.     autoexec.bat and config.sys somewhere safe.
  42.  
  43. 3.  Instead of using a boot disc, you could make a dual-boot
  44.     startup.  DOS 6.0 is required to do this, but it is a fantastic
  45.     way to handle multiple startup configurations.  Consult your DOS
  46.     manual for more information.

  51. Blake Stone also requires that you have some available hard drive space
  52. when you run it.  If you get an error trying to run it, you may just
  53. need to clean some unused files from your system and free up some space.

  59.                       UNINSTALLING THE INTERFACE

  62. The interface is never actually installed, since it runs
  63. directly from the CD-ROM.  However, if you install
  64. Wolfenstein 3-D or Blake Stone to your hard drive, then
  65. a small configuration file is created in the root directory
  66. of your boot drive (usually C:).  This file is named WBCONFIG.TXT,
  67. and is initially hidden to prevent accidental deletion.  If you
  68. wish to remove the file, you can easily do so with the following
  69. DOS commands:

  71. attrib -h c:\wbconfig.txt
  72. del c:\wbconfig.txt
  73.  
  74. (please note that if your boot drive is a different letter than
  75. "c:", that you must use it in place of the drive in the example
  76. commands above.)
